    Freshman Katie Boyd was named tournament MVP this weekend, batting .769 with 4 homeruns, 7 rbis and 2 stolen bases. GoASU.com for more details.

    For her performance this past weekend Katie was named So Con Player of the week and nominated for national player of the week.

    Katie Boyd Makes Sports Illustrated

    Katie has her "props" in this month's issue of Sports Illustrated. Her outstanding performance in her first tournament as a Mountaineer earned her a spot in the "Faces in the Crowd" section.

    Katie Boyd hit her 8th HR of the season against Furman, setting a new single season ASU record. The team swept the Saturday double header.

    During Saturday's games Katie was struck in the face by a foul ball off her bat. She continued to play but was taken to the ER afterward. She has a fracture of her orbital bone. Until the swelling goes down the full extent of the injury is not known but she will miss the mid week games. She is determined to play in the conference games this weekend. She is a tough cookie!! Best of luck to her in her recovery.
