OK soon we will have some great news to report on this site. A young man that I have watched the last couple of years just committed to a fine college program. This young fella caught my eye at a showcase event at UNC last summer. He was not the biggest guy on the field. But he had the biggest heart on the field. I watched him bust his butt out of the box and play the game with passion.

I have watched him grow and mature in the game over the last two years. I saw him this summer and was amazed at how much he had done just that. I caught myself saying "Man I wish that kid played for me". I finally got to meet him this summer. "Yes sir , No sir , Thank you sir , etc etc. I am so proud of him. What a great young man and a wonderfull baseball player.

Soon his dad Im sure will be on here telling us about his recent decision. Way to go Kyle. Hard work and dedication does pay off son. You are going to be a heck of a college baseball player. I wish you played for me.

    Coach27,

Thank you for those very kind words - they mean alot to all of us. Kyle signed his NLI today and will be playing for the UNC-Pembroke Braves.

We are proud of him - and all the hard work he has put into it - and we are very appreciative of all the folks at On-Deck who have helped him reach his goal. We are also very appreciative of the guidance and support he has received from you.

Its a good day here today - and now - I get to do the college thing all over again. LOL

My best to you - Paul

Kyle Mastrioni OF/P North Mecklenburg Solid defensive player w/ great speed- Excellent hitter to all fields.

Now here is what I have to say about this. The first time I met his dad, Paul, Kyle was a freshman (could have been 8th grade) and his brother, Darin, was a ballplayer at Winthrop. They are a great baseball family that transplanted to the South (a very difficult thing to do when you grow up in the NY area) and it has taken Paul some time to assimilate to our southern culture....but he has. (not sure if he has the grit thing down pat yet). He is just a tremendous guy with a wealth of baseball knowledge, but more important, he is a totally loyal and honest guy....and my friend.

It has been fun for me to follow Kyle through his high school years (Man, they have flown by).....and now to see it culminate in a baseball scholarship to a school on the rise! Wow....I believe I am just as excited as Kyle and his family. Great going kid...you deserve it!

congrats on joining a great program

While I do not know Kyle and his family yet,I do know the program he has joined.Coach O"neil and coach Simmons have the unc-p program on the way up.These are two fine men who really care about the kids and are building a program the right way.The Braves play in one of the top rated D-2 conferences in the country, the peach belt and you mark my word,we will be hearing more and more good things about this program in the very near future.I know because I have a son in the program and he and his mom and I could not be happier with his choice of schools.
    Welcome!

    T,

Thanks again for those very kind words.

I will say that having been here 4 years now - I have made so many great friends - and have met and spent time with so many great families - moving here has to be one of the best decisions I have ever made.

I would also be remiss not to send a very special thank you to Bruce Porter - and his son Tom. Their kindness and willingness to help will never be forgotten by this family.

And oldbbguy - I look forward to meeting you soon and rooting for the Braves!

    TBR studs offered contracts

The news is that Braves and Coach 27 have been offered the "coaching" and "instructing" jobs at Hooters University. The clubhouse food is great and the team cheerleaders are fantastic. It took Braves only seconds to sign his NLI but Coach 27 has yet to sign. What are you waiting on coach?

    I just signed!

I was holding out. I made them promise me that I could be in the swimsuit issue. And I got Coach Evans a posistion as well. No way we could leave him out.
