I know there are a lot of NW4A'ers out there...but there has to be a few CPC'ers in here too.

With all of the non-conference games out of the way and conference play to get underway this Friday night...who is on track to come away with the championship and valuable playoff berths?

Here's a look at the teams, in no particular order, and what they've done to this point.

North Davidson (6-0) - After finishing last season with a 3-8 record, the Black Knights have jumped out to a 6-0 record under the direction of second year coach Tasker Fleming. A tough defense has contributed to much of the success the Knights have enjoyed this season...they've allowed just over 9 points per game. Look for the defense to remain tough and the offense to keep gaining momentum as they head into conference play. They'll welcome North Forsyth to the CPC this Friday.

North Forsyth (1-5) - Don't let the record fool you...the Vikings would be 3-3 had they not had two wins stripped from them due to an eligibility issue. North Forsyth will make the transition from the Metro 4A conference into the CPC official this week when they battle the Knights in the battle of the Norths...They are also gaining momentum behind their quarterback who has returned from an injury sustained early in the season.

Davie County (3-3) - Here's another record that you should ignore. While the War Eagles have three losses, they are still a power to reckon with. They lost by one to Thomasville, who hasn't lost in 40-some tries. They lost by six to Gretna, VA, who happens to be one of Virginia's top schools. And they lost by four to West Rowan, who is 5-1 so far this season. Davie has one of the best quarterbacks in the state and a potent offense that has scored 99 points in the past two games. They'll try to keep the points high as they head to Clemmons to take on West on Friday.

West Forsyth (4-2) - Remember the Titans? You can bet the teams of the CPC do as they will be in the thick of things at the beginning of November as the season winds down. Coach Petree always gets his guys fired up for the big games, and you'll bet they'll be fired up when they take on Davie County in their CPC opener at home.

Mt. Tabor (4-2) - A perennial favorite in the CPC, Coach Stewart brings his Spartans into CPC play this season having only lost two games by one point each. A powerful offense that has placed no fewer than 20 points on the board in each game will lead the Spartans on their quest to the top of the CPC standings.

R.J. Reynolds (0-6) - The Demons of R.J. Reynolds might be 0-6, but in three of their losses they were one touchdown away from being on top. The Demons always have an athletic offense, and you can bet that they won't go through CPC play without adding some wins to their record. Their first challenge...Mt. Tabor.

It should be interesting to see who comes out on top...and you can bet the next five weeks will fly by. Every game will be important where even one loss might leave you out of the playoff picture.

if Davie gets by W. Forsyth on Friday they'll take the CPC 4A. it wont be easy but they're certainly the front runner in my book. i see Davie winning this game by at least 4 points. second place will be up fro grabs imo. lotsa good teams left to hammer things out. good luck with N. Forsyth this week. they're a tough conference opener and could put a blemish on that 6-0 record.

CPC Conference Play Heads into Week 2

    WEEK ONE...IN THE BOOKS

In the battle of the North's, the Davidson County School prevailed over the Forsyth County School by a score of 17-6. It was a physical game the whole night and a good outcome for North Davidson since it was Homecoming!!!

Davie County started off conference play by defeating a tough West Forsyth and spoiling their Homecoming in the process. Davie will be tough right down to the end of the season, and they have cleared hurdle number one in route to a Conference Championship.

R.J. Reynolds picked up their first win of the season as they defeated Mt. Tabor...YES YOU READ RIGHT!!! The Demons waited and waited and waited to get that first win and they got it against one of the powerhouses of the CPC.

North Davidson, Davie County and R.J. Reynolds now share the CPC lead after the first week of play and Mt. Tabor, West Forsyth and North Forsyth are all playing catch-up.

    WEEK TWO...ON THE HORIZON

North Davidson travels to R.J. Reynolds. ND is trying to add to their 7-0 record and the Demons will continue their quest as spoilers of the conference. Both will be trying to hang onto at least a share of the CPC lead!

Davie County travels to Mt. Tabor. This will be one to watch!!! Davie comes off a big win and Tabor comes off an even bigger loss. Who will remain focused on the BIG PICTURE??? Mt. Tabor doesn't want to fall to 0-2 in the CPC, but beating Davie County is and will never be an easy task.

West Forsyth travels to North Forsyth. Both of these teams are looking to get our of the CPC cellar and one will be able to on Friday night. North is looking to get on track after a tough night at North Davidson. They'll need to be healthy and running on all cylinders when West comes to town. West is coming off of a loss against Davie...their 4th straight loss to Davie...and will be ready to take out who ever is in their path.

Should be a great week 2...it'll be interesting to see how the standings shake out after Friday night!!!

Who do you think will win???

Come on CPC'ers and CHIME IN!!!
