Shelby fans, parents and coaches should be very proud of their young men. My son plays for Watauga and said that Shelby was the classiest team he has ever played against. The Shelby players were encouraging our players saying things like, “great run”, ”nice block”, and “keep your head up”. My son hates losing but when you lose to a team like that, it takes some of the sting away. Having said all of that, we look forward to another shot at Shelby next year. Good luck, Shelby.

Shelby was one of the most classy teams to ever come to Jack Groce if not the most. All of the players, coaches, fans, radio guys, and statmen were all wonderful people who had nothing but great things to say about Watauga and our team and our atmosphere. Its a shame that more teams (caugh caugh North Surry) cannot take a page out of Shelby's book. After the game both teams got together and prayed together as well.

Coach Norman should be proud of the men that surround his program in Shelby.

Very classy team, and a good game for most of it as well. Best of luck to Shelby on that 3rd state title!

i agree with that the Shelby football team and their fans are great...but when i was in Watauga two weeks ago for the ac game the fans there were terrible...and the players had terrible attitudes acting af though they were Gods gift to football...you said that some support from the other team helps take the sting from a lose...well maybe your players should be that way...with the hard times ac has faced in this season they probably could have used some support...the fact that ac kept fighting in that game deserves soem respect as well...

I'm not sure who that was, I can tell you that they do not reflect most of Watauga very well. Nobody at Watauga had anything negative to say about Alexander, nobody whos opinion matters anyway.

I don't know how you would think our fans are bad. The way our stadium is set up you never run into home fans. You enter the gate by the fieldhouse an no one from Watauga goes over there except our coaches and media people and I know they didn't say anything.

You probably think that because we didn't kneel the ball and hand it back to you but instead keep playing normal. I don't really understand how the fans were rude because I'm sure you could not tell from across the field so that's probably a lie considering everyone always leaves Watauga saying they enjoy playing there. Competitive might be a better word then terrible attitudes. The hard times in AC football is not our fault so quit complaining to us. Anyways, good luck getting sympathy from that post. No harsh feelings, just my opinion.

im not complaining about you not kneeling the ball...but the attitudes of your players and the trash talking they did i felt was very inappropriate...secondly your fans were very rude concidering that our players hold hands walking onto the field as a sign of UNITY and your fans thought that it was extremely funny...that was the first place all season that thought it necessary to "poke fun at" our players and how they walk onto the field...i didnt appreciate that nor did any other fan from our sideline...and as a matter of fact...most fans from our area hate playing at Watauga for the simple fact that your fans and the environment there is terribly negative towards our school especially...im sorry but you wouldnt see what we do concidering you are from that area...

How could you hear/see the Watauga fans pointing and laughing at you (the team) when AC walked out of the fieldhouse and went in the opposite direction of the Watauga side? I was at that game, i never saw anything that led me to believe there was any trashtalking or poor sportsmanship on the field that night. When you make accusations such as this, you need to provide facts to back it up.
