Tragic News for a Baseball Family

    All,
    I have some very bad news, news that tore my heart out yesterday.
    I am just now able to tell you all.
    Gary Cress was my Babe Ruth Coach and we won the NC State Championship!
    He is a man of faith, family and was a terrific role model for kids like me growing up.
    Gary worked in Concord Parks and Rec until he retired last year and also worked the Concord AAU tourneys with Donnie Broome for years.

    Gary's grandson Alex (9) and grand daughter Tiffany (14) were both killed
    in a tragic car accident while on the way to Alex' AAU National tourney in Florida this past Saturday night. In a blink of an eye both were taken away from their father, mother and grand parents.
    I went by to see both Gary's today and as expected they are very devastated. Gary Sr. introduced me to all as "his player on the NC STATE
    Championship team". We still have that bond after all these years!

    Please keep this family in your prayers and if you know either, they really need their baseball family to help hold them up and get them through this very difficult time!

    So sad. It's every parent & grandparent's nightmare. I'll add the family to my prayer list.

    My heart goes out to everyone involved. It makes you hug your kids a little tighter understanding this could happen to you. Please send our condolence from our family and for them to know they are in our prayers:wings:

    Our prayers go to the Cress family from up here in the mountains of North Carolina. My their faith in Jesus Christ get them through these trying times.

    I'm sorry to hear about your lose and the families lose also. They are flying above us as we speak and thats the one thing that we can all take from all this. My condolences go to your family and the family that lost their loved ones.
