Because there are a lot of us out here who could care less about football. I have seen the other, especially female, sports get shortchanged over the years. Anytime a PE job opens up in Cleveland County, it goes straight to football. Of course, Kings Mtn. did have Ms. Grayson and Coach Sweezy while their football team couldn't beat anybody. It looks like they are trying to change that, but don't let softball suffer because of it. That sport has put them on the map. Think McDowell and Freedom ladies' basketball, Enka softball, Providence vollleyball. These things happen when a good coach is put in place for these sports, not to mention the kids doing the travel circuit. A lot of these schools never give the kids (girls especially) the opportunity to succeed, mostly because they are so worried about football. Any yes, there are people who don't really care about football. I went to Shelby, by the way, and I do follow them, but don't get too concerned about it. If I have nothing better to do, I may go catch a Crest or Burns game (now there's one that has ignored things).

Anyway, I don't have any hard feelings about who got the football job, mainly because I don't care. But, I know there were other candidates for the job who could have done as well or better. I've played ball with all of them, and know their competitive instincts. They all are good coaches, I figure. OK, I won't rant about this anymore, just hire Don Sweezy, and everything will be fine. Don't, and you haven't done the right thing. It's pretty simple!

The fact is, most sports are supported by the money that the football gate brings in, but that is a debate for another day.

Yeah, another debate, but teams that spend money raise their own anyway. This one I probably won't buy, but I understand a lot of people only care about football, but there are some of us who don't care much.

It looks like Coach Short is taking the KM job, the girls on the team recieved a letter informing them of his decision.
Thing is if East Gaston does the right thing and brings in a qualified replacement, I think people would be surprised at how far this team could go.

Coach Short will be a good fit in K.M. He will have a well balanced team, with speed, defense and pitching. They may not have a top 10 in the state team, but they will be able to win on any given day. Good Luck to Coach Short, hopefully for many years to come.

Hey Kenny, this is Richard. I talked to the twins at practice today, and it seems that that is a done deal. You should apply for the East Gaston job, as if you would have time. East Gaston will be very strong next year, they definately have a team that will be reckoned with. I would be very disappointed if Coach Sweezy is not atleast part of the coaching staff, it would be just a right out damn shame if he isnt given an opportunity to stay on staff. Ive always been somewhat disappointed in the way things are handled at Kings Mountain when it comes to the athletic department. I was hoping things would be somewhat different, but thats just the way it. I personally like Coach Sweezy, and this is not to say that I disapprove of Grayson and Funderburke's decision, because anyone who knows me, you can damn well sure bet I will always do whats good for the girls. Its red's senior year coming up, Im going to enjoy sitting on the hill and watching her last year. Damn, where has four years gone?

Richard, you can't stay on staff with no money, and no recognition. If this happens, it's a slap in the face. I'm very disappointed if it happens. People should know better. Don will be fine, and I will be right there with him no matter what. Let's concentrate on Red and Chasiti and Haley and the Hoyles, and make them better. Oh, I forgot about Jo. Unfortunately, the school system again flubs up again. I know Ms. Grayson knew better. We'll do something somewhere.

Maybe East should contact Coach Sweezy, but it's too far of a drive.

I would take Collier on any team I ever had, plus you got the twins, and Michelle Primm. This would be a dream job for at least a year.
