    4th and 2

Pioneers punt on 4th and 2 into the wind--a 10-yard punt. Why punt into the wind?? Why NOT go for it now? Isn't it desperation time?

    WHS holds

punt into the endzone, 1st and 10 at the WHS 20; time is running short.

    Turnover on downs

WHS turns it over on downs and WC is rushing towards a victory dance TD with under 3 minutes to play.

It's been fun Bubba. I've enjoyed your articulate posts.

Looks like it's been you and me tonight with a couple of guys from Reynolds and Alexander lurking.

To Reynoldsrocks and the others, sorry we couldn't "represent" tonight. You guys that have big time teams every year can't imagine what a blast we've had this year with this football team.

    Geez

Inexplicably the Lions throw it and the incomplete pass stops the clock with a minute and change...not that it really matters, but why?

On the next play Preston Oliver recovers a fumble and with 1:31 to go WHS has it back...probably a little too much to ask for 3 scores in 1:31, but at least they kept them out of the endzone.

Really an excellent performance by the WHS D, but a better job by the Lions, who have yielded about 100 yards total offense.

Hoggard leads Greenville Rose 23-19 in the second half.

It sounded to me like west Charlotte decided to let up at the end. Very classy ... did not try to run up the score.

    Final Score

    West Charlotte 21
    Watauga 0

Congratulations to the Lions and good luck in the state championship. Watauga's season comes to an end at 12-3. The Pioneers certainly have nothing to hang their heads about. It was an amazing run for Coach Snow and the upstart Pioneers.

    A few numbers

First downs: WC 19 WHS 11
Total yards: WC 391 WHS 163 (about 50 of which came on the last drive against the second team D)
Turnovers: WC 2 WHS 1 (though there were several turnovers on downs)

WC individual: Chisholm 34 carries, 222 yards, 2 TDs. Thomas 3-for-6, 79 yards, TD.

WHS individual: Beeson 10 carries, 90 yards. EB 10 carries, 47 yards. Team passing 2-for-14 with an INT. Tough going through the air in the high wind advisary.

    Watauga Night

:talker: :talker: Just a note to the Watauga team--you are amazing, and don't ever forget that. We have had a great season, it has been fun, thrilling and heart breaking. But the one thing that you need to remember is that you brought Watauga Football back to Boone, NC, and we the fans will continue to support you. You have been a great team to watch and cheer for. You have proved your heart and desire over and over again. For you seniors--what a great way to go out--you are the best, and we all love you so much. Your coaches have taught you well, and you will never forget these last 17 weeks! You are #1 in our hearts, and all I can
say is go forward and be proud of all that you did for your team and your community. Way to go Watauga, and way to Coach em Adrian Snow and Staff!!! We love you all. Good luck to WC in the State Playoffs.
