This was a much better game than the score indicates. Actually 0-0 until late in the 1st half. Defensive struggle with both teams fighting for field position. Watauga scores first only to have a flag on the play and turned the ball over on the next. Sloppy play at times by both teams with Watauga committing 5 turnovers and ACR 4. Reynolds scores late in the first half and then after a Watauga turnover scores again with under a minute to go. AC Reynolds returned the 2nd half kickoff for a TD. Breitenstein ended up with 99 yards. Spencer had a huge game with 130 yds or so and a ko return. The kid can motor once in open field. Watauga showed up and played well early, just too many turnovers against a team like ACR.

I guess you can say it was closer and a better game then the score says but the bottom line was ACR 31 Watauga 6 and from the view I had it was because of the Rocket defense. Watauga had problems moving the ball all night and honestly when you end the night with 108 total yards on 47 plays that says all there needs to be said. The Pioneers went to their stacked I formation one time after halftime and that lasted all of 3 plays as it netted 4 yards and a punt. We had Breitenstein officially with 73 yards on 26 carries and 1 TD. Spencer for ACR had 123 yards on 17 carries and 3 total TD's. Watauga has improved greatly from their teams of the past which is nice to see. Their loss tonight wasn't due to turnovers as ACR also had 4, Watauga lost because their offense could not sustain a drive and keep the ball and put points on the board against a better defensive team.

Wasn't trying to state anything about the game other than it was a better game to watch than some may think by the final score. My yards were actually coming from the radio so your's is more accurate I'm sure. ACR's defense is very tough and I was very impressed by their speed and penetration by the line. Watauga's line has done very well blocking this year but had trouble tonight. The defense had to spend too much time on the field.

I agree, it was a good game to watch, as Watauga has a fine team and has improved greatly. Like I said before they do need to be able to sustain their drives more, as their defense did spend too much time on the field. Our defense is good because of it's speed at the line of scrimmage and their ability to get off blocks and get in the backfield. I think that is why we cause problems with other teams our team speed is not just one or two players it's everyone that can get to the ball and make a play. As for the yardage, we keep the stats down on the field and usually step off each play so I am pretty confident in our figures. Even our PA announcer said our Kickoff return was 96 yards however it was only 93, I was down there where he caught the ball at the 7 yardline.

    Congrats to ACR

Congrats to ACR for a game well played, and to WHS for putting themselves in this position to start with. WHS quite frankly played like a team that has not been in this position. While ACR's pressure was the main reason for the lackluster play of WHS, the Pioneers looked a bit jittery for the large stage they were on. The Charlotte Observer had Breitenstein at 99 yards which is really irrelevant at thispoint. Coach Snow has done a tremendous job this year and I think is building a program we all hope will rival that of ACR's. Nevermind whats being said about WHS "weak schedule", it doesnt appear either team's was real strong. You still have to practice, prepare and show up and play to get the W's. WHS needs to just regroup and finish the conference play on a strong note. This game may have helped Watauga also to feel the pressure of a game played on the road, against a great team. Good luck to both the Rockets and the Pioneers as they conclude conference and enter the playoffs.
