I am coaching my 8 year olds 3rd & 4th grade football team. Our first game is tomarrow and I doubt I get any sleep tonight.

Our elementary school opened last year and this is our first year for football at the school. Both the schools in the area that our kids came from are on our schedule this year and as luck of the draw would have it, our primary rival is our first game.

My son is the RB and sometime between now and noon I fully expect to blow chunks. I have poored my heart and soul into the past couple of months for this team and I have been truely blessed to have 18 wonderful young men, parents and assistant coaches.

I don't think I was this filled with anticipation when I played and I certainly was never this into it.

Yall pray for us, not to win, but that both teams enter and leave the field healthy and having been better to have been a part of it.

Sure, there isnt a lot more that I have ever wanted more than to whip this other team, but in reality I am proud of what we have accomplished to this point and as solid a team as I have I am not worried about playing poorly.

Friendship is the Elementary school. Here is a link to the standings: Pee Wee Standings. My 11 year old is playing at 10AM, so I am excited to see him play tomarrow as well.

I was more than a little dissapointed to get a phone call this week letting me know that we can not line up in the gaps and can not line up over the center, even though we were all told we could for the past couple of months. Personaly I think some underprepared coach complained about it. So, now after this first game we all have to play a 6 man front instead of a 5-2 which we have been practicing for 2 months.

    Quick update.

We got whipped pretty much. The team we played is more than likely the best in the league according to everyone I have talked too. I think I have 3 boys that have played tackle before and they had roughly 15-20 that played tackle last year in the same system. So the 36-14 final outcome was dissapointing from the aspect that we didnt play well at all and the game should have been much closer, but if you have boys that mentaly arent there from the begining against a good team, it's a long day.

I am looking for a better performance this coming Saturday, hopefully I will have the minds and hearts of more of our guys.

for the record, they didnt get the score correct for last weeks game.

    Annnnnnnnnnnnd we won yesterday!!

14-8. Our defense was lights out. The only reason they scored was because I put them in a tough position by going for it on 4th and long deep on our end because our D was playing so well.

1-1 whoot. Man I wish we could have a do over of week 1.:apfbbt:

Sounds like your kid is a lucky boy to have such a supportive dad. Good luck with the rest of the season.

I've thought about coaching Pee Wee football for years. I might still do it someday, if the right set of circumstances happens.

    Way to go, Foxman.
