    I had...

the oppty to sit and have lunch with Brian years ago as he was honored as part of the NCABCA annual meeting for being freshman collegiate player of the year! Great young man just recently made appearance at Baltimore's ESPN ZONE for Q & A's for 200 bucks a pop! :229031_ha
P.S. All proceeds went to Cancer Foundation I am pretty sure!

I remember when we played against Nixon in the State Championship in high school. Walked him a couple times after being booed as cursed repeatedly finally pitched to him and you guessed it. He hit it a good 400 feet.

    QB

remember that Trot Nixon was in competition to be NC State's football QB that summer after his senior year in HS, but he signed pro contract with the red sox on the last day before classes were to start at State.

so he never wore the red & white at State.

I was lucky enough to play against both these guys.

in 1992 Kernersville faced wilmington in the american legion state finals in the old 7 game series format. the series went 7 games and kernersville won the final game 21-19. K-ville eventually lost in the SE regionals to a homerun by alex rodriguez of Miami sound barrier.

trot nixon hit about five hr's that series and everyone of them was way up in the trees at East Forsyth. 450-plus each.
on the mound he threw two complete games and was legitimate low-90's all night. His hiogh school pitching record was 14-0 his senior year. The other part of his game that you don't see at the big league level was he stole second and third effortlessly.

I played against brian roberts when he was at UNC his first two seasons. Brian was an incredible base stealer who set the NCAA record twice. To be honest, I didn't think he was a big league talent compared to other ACC guys. As I've gotten older and realized some things I see how he is super steady and knows his role as good as any player in baseball.

    two good ones...
