Four batters, no hits, 1 hit batsman, and 17 pitches later, Andrew Miller has faced his first major league batters...in the 8th inning of today's losing effort against the Yankees!

    Way to go, Andrew!!

(One of the biggest reasons for the "callup clause" in his contract is that it begins the "arbitration clock" earlier than it might otherwise.)

Yeah, that was mentioned in the very first reply.

Anyway, I'm surprised to see I was wrong about him not being used in meaningful situations and pleasantly surprised that he looked pretty good against major league hitters.

My apology, Collin. I should have done a quick review of earlier posts.

I spoke with his dad, yesterday. Understandably, he was both excited and a nervous wresk...also bummed out that it was raining. I'm sure he's greatly relieved at this hour!

    YANKEE STADIUM!!

what a memory to tell grandkids later; that your first game pitched in the major leagues was in "the house that Ruth built"!!

By then, that house will likely be no more and the new Yankee Stadium will have some age on it!!

Good point EoR.....just like Prepster can tell his grandchildren that he actually saw Babe Ruth play.

    big unit II?

I had a thought today watching Randy Johnson pitching for the Yankees; would anyone project Andrew Miller to be anything like the Big Unit when AM's major league career gets into its prime? Similar stature / size on the mound.

I wouldn't think so. Miller doesn't have the same crazy arm angle, or that biting slider. There's no reason why he shouldn't be good, but I'd be a bit surprised if he was as good as Johnson.

    LOL

I just might have a new sig line...

My question is why did Miller only pitch 5 innings in the minors? Whats he been doing the last two months?
