    .......not fired but resigned. lots of speculation on the prep boards about who will replace him. SR looks to go 3A once the next re-alignment takes place. newly built Carson HS (between China Grove and Rockwell in Rowan Co.) should take some numbers from both S. Rowan and E. Rowan. there were some rumblings about the state of football at SRHS under Vanhoy the last few years but now its all history.

    And what's going to happen to 3A. Talk is Crest and Shelby both may be 3A. SR and ER could go 3A. I've heard rumblings about a new HS in Burke County which could make Freedom, East Burke, and the new one all 3A. The 3A ranks may explode with schools or the numbers may have float which could leave some of these schools 4A.

    Theres gonna be 2 new high schools built in Burke county.I dont really know what will happen but I think Freedom will stay 4a,East burke may go 3a, and the new hs will probaly be 2a.

    ive heard talk of a 3A conference with Rowan/Cabarrus ties, they'll certainly have enough 3A schools to fill one heckuva conference with little travel, large gates and major rivalries.....all logical reasons to do this.................but its just scuttle-butt right now and we know that logical thinking rarely evolves from the NCHSAA re-alignment meetings.

    As fhspatriot has stated, it looks like Freedom will stay large enough to be classified as a 4A school while East Burke drops to 3A and the new Burke County Schools (R.L Patton and Jimmy Draughn) will be a middle-tier 2A school.

    I think the NW4A schools will fight very hard to keep East Burke because of their tradition of being in the conference and the fact that they do travel well. As result that would likely make the NW4A a split conference.
