Over in "Onion County" two guys had decent numbers for the Bulldogs in pinstripe colors.

    8 6 12 105 116 7 .969

First column of stats belong to Josh Benton, who also pitched to 2 batters and recorded two outs. Next guy is Shaughn Neal who played 2nd base with a few games @ SS.:woot:

Just an addition to the Lenoir Rhyne stats:

Matt Keever was named Co-player of the year in the conference. Matt was an all region catcher at Surry for two years before transferring to High Point, then on to Lenoir Rhyne for his senior year. He is a great young man that has done extremely well. Matt played his HS ball at Hickory High and played Legion for the Hickory team while being named that region's POY during his last year.

Matt had the fourth highest batting average ever in the SAC conference at .430 while also hitting 7 HR, 17 2B, 4 3B, with 50 RBI. He also was 10-12 in SBs.

He is the first LR player since 1994 to win the award.

    Congratulations Matt!!:ylsuper: :applause:

Jay Heafner (Davidson College) from West Lincoln HS was one of 40 players nationwide nominated for the Golden Spikes award, given annually to the nation's best D1 ballplayer. Kind of like the Heisman.

Heafner (3b), a junior, leads the Wildcats in batting average (.434), hits, HRs (11), slugging % (.697). and on-base percentage (.517). He also has 6 saves to his credit.

Rob Wilson (Myers Park) sports a 5-4 record and is also batting .321 for the Wildcats. Eli Benefield (Hunter Huss) is the starting SS and batting .328 for the year with 18 doubles. Ronnie Shore (South Rowan) is starting at 2nd and leads the Wildcats with 2 triples.

I have some more Bulldogs to brag on. At UNC Asheville this year, "the Bear" Elliot Arrington finished his freshman season batting .354 , 192 AB , 68 H , 12 2B , 27 RBI

Ben Kerr recently earned the Dave Hart Scholarship and played quite a bit @ SS

The other Ben (DOUBLE DIME) Buchanan, another freshman, had 18 APP, finished 2nd on the team with 81 IP, one complete game and struck out 60.

Good luck in the future guys. Maybe some more help will come from Meck Co.
