    You've got to be kidding

    You have got to be kidding, O. The quality of high school baseball and baseball players in the Charlotte area is as good as I can ever remember, and I have been around for a loooooong time. Providence, South, North, Hopewell, Independence, East, Olympic, Charlotte Christian, Butler -- just look at the rosters and the interest from college programs. I watched a pretty good Myers Park team lose 11 games this year -- 2 to South, 2 to Providence, 2 to North and one each to Independence, Hopewell, East, Olympic and Butler. Every one of those losses was to a quality opponent with quality pitching and quality hitters. I just don't see how anyone can see it otherwise.

    :agreed::agreed:

    I actually saw that a few times this year...I see a players father keeping score, and awarding him hits when the ball goes through a players' legs, fielders dropping fly balls...etc. The score book really doesn't mean anything anymore, wins are all that matters.

    Creative scorekeeping doesn't dictate how many runs are given up.

    No......but how many runs that Lumberton hasn't given up also doesn't determine why they are #1 right now. Quality and quanitity of wins have.

    Quality and Quantity

    Lumberton has 21 wins with many quality ones. I believe that quantity and quality is directly related to the number of runs its pitching staff has allowed. The first half of the season, most of the games were 2-1, 3-2 type games. The last half, the Pirates started scoring runs and pounding people.
