What happened up there? Coach Morrison was doing alright up in Olin when I left there a couple of years ago. I reckon they just never recovered from Coach Love retiring.

OK, heres the story as posted at NCPrepReport.com and CarolinaVarsity.com. The head coach at NI moved ALL soph and freshmen down to jv for the last game of the season. Many good players wont be playing tonite as they cant do both in the same week. This did not set too well with most of the players or the parents. Seems like they will be taking on the Wonders with about 17 kids (jrs. & srs.). But the game is on.

Like QC said, Morrison was doing OK at NI but an on field altercation (players fighting) with Lake Norman HS last season got him in some hot water with the school administration and he got canned or left on his own. He was well liked by most of the kids and ran a decent program considering the talent he had to work with. This new guy is one strange cat, runs a version of the old Notre Dame "Box". They are winless in the NPC this year.

Morrison was a real nice guy. I think that Howell dude was the AD. He was nice, but pretty weird.

I'm understanding NI dressed 20 -22 players for tonights varsity game.

They never gave up but the Wonders win 28-8 sharing the conference title with West Rowan

thank you for the info!! i went to school there in the 80`s and thought coach love was a great coach! coach morrinson for what he had did a good job. you know you cant make chicken salad out of chicken poop. the lady they have running the school is a joke!! she forced my farther out there last year after he had taught there for 29 and a half years. so coach morrinson `s fate was sealed with the fight cause the lady principal will look to cover her butt and let anyone who gets her in a little hot water go! congrats to all the raider kids that dressed out and gave all the heart that they had to give!!!!! :applause: :applause: :xyzthumbs

I didn't realize that the Statesville Record & Landmark talked about any other school then Statesville Senior High. At least that is the way it was up until I graduated from there (NI) in 1996.

I played under Love and Morrison was my O-Line and track coach. I've got a lot of respect for both men (Love is actually one of my customers now), but it was obvious playing for them that they both had very short tempers. What happened with Morrison was terrible, but anyone who watched practices probably wasnt too surprised to hear about it. I could tell some stories, but no one probably cares. I had howell in class and yeah, he was slightly nuts, but I always really liked him as well. and ANY AD is better than Steve Sloan.

I honestly dont know much about the program since '96, but before then, I have a lot of respect for all those guys. Especially Don Sparks, who moved to South Iredell and, I beleive, is AD down there now.

What about the Notorious Coach Thompson (football/baseball) coach. He use to make the baseball team prepare the football field and oversead, etc...I guess that's why the school team always had a loosing season and the same guys played together in summer league and won championships. As long as you were a boosters member you was sure to play no matter what sport you was in or how good you was! The politic of NI and Steve Sloan!
