A high school coach is a "teacher." He is a mentor and model for young people. He dictates how a team will perform and behave. He sets the expectations for young people to follow. If every other word a coach uses is profanity, then expect the boys to follow suit. If a coach sets a high standard for him or herself, then their players will look up to them and mentor them. The knowledge of the game will take care of itself.

I agree with sugarjet. I believe the Coach needs to have a strong relationship with all his players. Also, making his players respect the game is a very important thing.

A high school player needs to be someone who wants to learn how to get better. He is someone that wants to represent his school and community and be the best role model he can be for all the little leaguers out there.
