MPHS Wins RRC!

Congratulations to the Varsity Softball Team on their SECOND Rocky River Conference Tournament Championship in a row yesterday at North Stanly. The Lady Tigers defeated West Stanly 4 -0 to claim both the Regular Season and Tournament Championships !!!!!! The Lady Tigers outscored their opponents 29 -0 over the 3 game tournament. They are 24-2 overall and finished the RRC schedule 20-1 overall. Also, they are ranked #3 in the state 2A softball poll !!!! WAY TO GO LADIES, ONE MORE GOAL LEFT TO ACCOMPLISH !!!!!

The winning pitcher was Taylor Carpenter, who is 23-2 overall. She pitched all 7 innings allowing 3 hits, 2 walks and striking out 7 Colt batters.

Leading Hitters for MP were:

Georgia Parker who was 4 for 4 at the plate with a run scored.
Alley Kindley who was 2 for 3 at the plate with 2 RBIs
Sarah Ritchie who was 2 for 3 at the plate
Allison Starnes, Jocelyn Parnell and Taylor Miller who were all 1 for 3 at the plate. Jocelyn and Taylor had 1 RBI each.

Coach Carter would like to recognize Allison Starnes, who was selected by the conference coaches as the 2009 RRC Softball Player of the Year !!!!! Allison was also selected the conference Player of the Year last year as well !!!!!!! Way to go Allison !!!!!!

Also, Coach Carter was selected as the RRC Coach of the Year for the 2009 season.

CONGRAT's MP

Still have to toot the West Stanly horn a tiny bit. MP's only lost in RR conference was to WS. MP finished the RRC schedule 20-1 overall. . MP has a chance to go along ways maybe all the way to Raleigh. WS could make some noise also.
