DD has strained the muscle on the inside of her thigh...I assume that is considered a groin pull/strain. She can pitch OK, but she said it hurts if she runs wide open and if she has to change direction quickly. Are groin pulls/strains a hard thing to get over? Do they heal pretty quickly? We are icing the area and using a compression wrap at the moment. We are not messaging it or stretching it though. Should we be stretching it some? She really doesn't want to go to a doctor about it because she is afraid they will tell her to rest it for 3 or 4 weeks. Anyone's DD had this type of strain/pull and what was done. Thanks is advance for any information.

    Old Remedy !!

Tell her to sit in a very warm bath of epsom salt about 30 mins. for about 3-4 nights, this natural miracle cure will help pull the strain pain out of her leg area. It pulls impurities out of the body !! Here is a short article about this great natural salt...

Oh, epsom salt—who knew that such an uninspiring ingredient could inspire such devotion? Read on for 13 ways to use epsom salts, including a relaxing bath, a face scrub and a hair volumizer. It’s also a miracle cure, helping to get rid of splinters and reduce swelling of sprains and bruises. One ingredient fits all!

I always knew that soaking in a tub full of hot water with a
few cups of Epsom Salts was good for relaxing muscles and
drawing toxins from the body, but I could never figure out why.
And it wasn’t until I spent some time at the Epsom Salt Industry
Council web site that I learned that epsom salts—made of
the mineral magnesium sulfate—are also a sedative for the
nervous system. When magnesium sulfate is absorbed through the skin, such as
in a bath, it draws toxins from the body, sedates the nervous
system, reduces swelling, relaxes muscles, is a natural
emollient, exfoliator, and much more.....Soak sprains and bruises: Epsom salt will reduce the swelling of sprains and bruises. Add 2 cups epsom salt to a warm bath, and soak.....

The advice I received was to put ice OR heat on it since it is not a joint injury. You can stretch it but not to the point of discomfort. Could not recommend whether to see a doctor but said if the pain was not severe enough to keep her from running it was probably not a serious injury.

My advice would be to get it checked out by a doctor and find out from the doctor what the consequences of not following his advice might be. Better safe than sorry.

Took DD to doctor today, strained knee, Doctor told us to take 3 days of complete rest, keep leg up, if swelling, ice, if not much swelling just pain, apply heat, take up to 600 ml of advil or motrin, 3 times a day with meals to help swelling and pain for these 3 days, after 3 days of this if not better, do the same for 3 more days, if not better by then, then need to come back.

    Hope this helps!

My dd had a few things come up last year in this realm. She had strained her MCL, but nothing anyone could do, just sore and they said she could play and it would be sore, probably all season, and it was.
HOwever while baby sitting this what seemed like week to week, one at a time, pulled just about every muscle she had in her leg.

What it boils down to is, getting good muscle therapy. Getting the blood circulating through the pulled muscles helps them heal faster. I recommend a good sports therapist. it reduced the kids down time by a couple of weeks, each time. I had to chuckle, after like the third one, the guy showed me what to do, and said just call him and he will tell me where to message. but these massages, are no fun, Kim would tear up in agony as this is deep tissue work. however, it worked very well. maybe this is something to consider.
