it's all relative - for some 16k is a small price to pay for the experience and a chance to play at the next level - for others it breaks the bank. at all levels imo it comes down to coaching and recognizing talent that can be developed.

The guy I'm talking about played 2 summers with the Dirtbags, and never received any kind of offer from anybody. He was a fair catcher. Not great, but fair. His dad said they spent $16,000 in the 2 summers. (travel, fees, hotels, etc.) It adds up. I will hand it to him thou. He didn't give up. He red-shirted his 1st year here at Barton College, played a little his 2nd season, and started as a junior. Shame he spent so much on showcase, because he could have done that on his own.

He is and always has been one of my favorites. I'm so proud of him for his dedication and commitment. He'll do great in the Lone Star State! (after he wins a state championship at C'bertson this spring!)
