    Future

My opinion is the future of all bats are uncertain. I don't think anyone could answer this with certainty. Hopefully they don't take it as far as baseball did. My opinion includes all bats including metal.

The latest word on the fields is that for 2012 season, NSA will no longer allow "two piece" composite bats. I have not confirmed this, but you could check with the NCNSA website and contact Howard Edwards for more info. Have not heard anythng about any other sanctions.

    The info

I have heard is that all bats could have changes coming. There is proof of all being tampered with. They are trying to stop the cheating. That is the bigger issue than composite vs metal. There has been evidence of all types of modification with bats. There is a movement to eliminate cheating going on right now with the NCAA that will trickle down into travel and school ball. These changes will not force what material the bat is made of. If these changes happen there will be provisions for certifying older bats. There will be some costs involved to that. Without that certification no bat regardless of material would be approved. Cheating was also a big deal in baseball and started the bat changes to where they are now.

Think everyone should know regardless of what you buy its possible you are throwing money away. I am not certain but I expect big changes before 2013.

One of the problems with Composite bats is that what appears to be cheating mods being made are actually just accumulated usage. They have found that these bats get hotter with use and far exceed the ratings for a safe bat speed. I think there is more cheating on these bats in the adult leagues than in the youth FP leagues. Anyone that mods a bat in the youth leagues should be charged criminally.

    1 difference

This bat list confirms at least there is some change taking place. Not as much last year as 3-4 years before now there was a lot of intentionally planted rumors about different bats. The Rocket Tech is getting banned or all composites getting banned. I won't fall on either side of this but I know for a fact there is technology being developed that the NCAA is keeping close tabs on. Take that for what its worth. Would suit me fine that things don't change. I don't need to be stuck with more worthless bats.

    I agree

I have seen plenty argue that its not in youth or girls fastpitch. There are problems in both. I would share some links where these are being sold but some cheater would buy them. Brand new shaved bats that are supposed to be for home run derby use. Problem is 90 percent or better end up on the field.
