    Beautiful weekend for softball!

Coaches really should take advantage of this opportunity by having all their players that aren't playing themselves to see some or all of these games. HS players in particular will benefit by seeing the level of play at these games. And I believe it's all free!

Also, just down the road, the Carolina Tarheels fastpitch will be hosting the UNC-W Seahawks Sunday only. Many area players will be playing there, also. Double-header starting at 2 pm.

There will be quite a few area players on the rosters at the NCSU tournament , also.

It was a fun day. Parkdaddy, Phreak, Dobber, 13, Wndmllr, for the girls, and the fish were there.....we missed out on Micweiser, he was at the beach.

    TBR has some cool folks.:waving:

The Queens kids can hit the ball.

Morgan Barbour (NCSU) hit her first collegiate homerun today. Way to go Morgan, ready for plenty more in the spring.

....yes she did and it was a bomb! It cleared the tall fence and landed on the track behind leftfield.
Also the NCSU v. ECU game was awesome, Bottom of the 7th, ECU 7 NCSU 5, with 1 out and runnners on 1st and 2nd for the Pack, Toni Ann Williford hit a walkoff HR for her first College HR and a 8-5 win for the hometeam.

Looking forward to the spring for sure.

Although I wasn't there too see it, congratulations, Morgan and Toni Ann!! What a great feeling that must be to hit a come-from-behind, walk-off homerun! Happy for you, ladies!!

Landon Warren is still cranking those hits, also. I did get to see her hit yesterday!

UNC-W didn't fare so well today but I think we'll see major improvement by the Spring. UNC-CH won 5-0 and 9-1. Carolina has a great team this year.

Went to see UNCW-UNC. Yes UNC has a beast of a team this year. The biggest thing I noticed was pitching is still strong. UNC has 3 top notch pitchers. Danielle Spaulding of course and Constance Orr very strong, but coming back from knee/ACL surgery was Amber Johnson who made a very strong showing. Fast ball hit 70 one time. That will be a 3 person combo rotation that will be hard to beat. The new frosh looked very good also. Over all team speed looked to have picked up.... Pitching, speed and some good hitting just seemed to have over powered UNCW. UNCW did not make that many mistakes and has a good team. The LF player for UNCW made 2 diving plays and one of the best diving plays I've seen in a long while. An over the head running away diving in foul territory grab for the 3rd out. Willie Mays would be proud. Wow and this was just Oct pre-season practice game. I guess it's 100% or go home.....................:hurray:

UNCW seemed a bit out of sync. But Kelly's only been there one season; they'll get better.

The UNCCH pitching was very impressive but their bats were more impressive. They've got some tall, athletic young 'uns on that team. It wouldn't be surprising at all to see them in the WCWS. Let's hope so!!
