Our bracket play continues into Saturday.

College Coaches we've seen at our games:
Samford, Boise St, N. Dakota St, SCAD, McNeese St, Arkansas, Centenary, E. Illinois, FCCJ, Jacksonville U, Marshall, Radford, U of Buffalo, Lassen CC, Siena College. There have been others, but can't remember or couldn't
    readily identify their school.

We get sent to a different site each day to play. Several umpires have been horrendous and there is not a UIC at many of the sites to keep a watchful eye on them. A site director threatened to pull an umpire off one of our games. This being after I had a confrontation with him and got ejected. He had made remarks and threats to some my players that were out right uncalled for and two plays at the plate back to back he ruled against us. The other team even booed him and a college coach made a comment directly to him as well!

We are severely missing playing in the Fireworks this year!

Team TFS 14u is playing in the Fireworks 14u tournament. They went 5-3 in the tourney and got put out today. Had solid wins against the Houston Power and Arizona Lil Saints.

We advance to play Sunday. We were scheduled for 4 games Saturday, but rain extended the 3rd game, so we have 3 games tomorrow now instead of 2. Unfortunately, the way this tournament is setup we cannot finish any higher than 3rd. So, win all 3 tomorrow and we finish 3rd. We have a had a big week. Rebecca Gift and Katie Moore have been crushing the ball all week. Leah Friedman and Kristina Victa's OBP% is very high as they have been getting it done at the plate with great bunts, slaps, and their foot speed. On a whole everyone has been productive at the plate. Defense very solid and the pitchers have been doing there job with not giving up big hits. 2009 Super Regional participant N. Dakota State University has been camped out and been at 4 of our games. It appears they will be waiting for us when we wrap up to talk to 2 players.

    NDSU

I met the NDSU head coach a couple of years ago. He seemed to be a real nice guy and his teams are well coached. He must be a heck of a recruiter to as his roster is heavy on California girls. Must be a salesman to get the kids to leave Cali to come to N Dakota!

    Yea

One of the premiere slapping coaches in country but not many know that since Ray from Arizona gets much of the press! Kids love his style.::five:

    Update

Had conversations with several coaches this week, but had some great conversations with Coach Mueller this weekend. Very impressed with him and Coach Trachsel. They spent quite a long time talking with Rebecca Gift and Kristina Victa after our last game today. Both have been promised offers with in the next couple days.

Due to all the rain and games getting pushed back we became handicapped today. We had 5 starters that couldn't change flights and weren't able to play today. We were able to pull 14u's up to play for us, but weren't able to win the game. Very impressed with a couple of them. They all run the bases very well.

All in all a great week. All our Juniors got good looks and serious inquiries this week or coaches said they would be keeping an eye on them and their progress. Even one of our 2012's got on some radars. This is what it is all about.

I guess that is pretty good if you want to play in North Dakota. Don't see why you need to go to Colorado to be seen. There were allot of coaches looking and talking to girls in Raleigh this weekend too. D1-D3. Great schools too. If my DD plays college ball I want to be able to go to the games. Glad to see some DD's from NC doing well though out there.

    Explanation

We have been going since 2006 and this year averaged 19 college coaches a game and UNC, NCSU, UNCC, ECU, App State, Furman, USC, UNC-P and others from our area were in attendance. They want to see how our girls and teams can compete against the best of the west and other areas of the country. If we can compete and have equal talent, they will take an in state kid over an out of state.
It is hard to explain how great the talent is in Boulder! We played a Gold team made up of 2010 and 2011's from California that had 6 kids already committed to Pac 10 schools and they hit three home runs! We played another Gold team and the lead off hitter hit the first pitch about 280 feet for a home run! We attend to play the best and be the best we can be, to enjoy the sites, and to hopefully get local schools to take NC girls seriously. To each his own!:smiley-patriotic-fl

If you havent been to the Boulder tournament there is simply NO knocking it.

Its jaw dropping in every respect from the scenary to the coaches in attendence... fom Maine to Stanford and every point in between.

There is nothing like it... ask anyone who has been there.

As far as talent goes IMHO the biggest difference is the CA teams face better pitching week in and week out than we do and it transaltes into being a better hitter. If you face a girl twice a month back home who is going to UCLA on a ride its no biggie to come to Boulder and face a girl going to UNC. The hitter is used to seeing great speed and movement. Based on my two years going tho I do NOT see better athletes or better ballplayers on those teams.. just better hitters in general which results solely from the quality of pitching they face week in and week out. My daughter is not one to give credit to a pitcher for getting her out (its just her competative nature) but this week after one particular game she told me: "Dad that was flat out the NASTIEST curve ball I have EVER seen!"

This is our second journey out here and the only negative I can come up with is sitting in the Denver airport waiting for the red eye to leave at 2 am NC time!!!!

According to TFS Rebecca Gift did ok with HRs. I know she didn't get that good solely facing tough pitchers.

Why don't the teams from the west overpower when they come here?

I'm also sure Donna Papa, Lisa Navas, et al are aware of the talent we have in NC.

Between the Carolinas, Virginia and Georgia I think we're ready to bring some major events here. The Cardinals organization I believe is taking steps to make that happen.
