As a coach , I've always try to prepare my girls for upcoming competition and/or the next tournament...Always challenging them to strive for the best-Pushing/preparing them for future showcase tournaments-Always pushing academics,ACT's,SAT's,Clubs, etc...Also as a coach, you hope to take a young group of girls(usually finding them on the rec.ball fields) at the the age of 8y/o or 9y/o and forming them into top recruiting college material through TB. While this 7-8 year commitment and transition is forming-As a coach , you tend to form a strong coach/player relationship. I still refer to my group of girls(no matter how old they get) as "My kids or My girls".

One of my (Carolina Hit-n-Run "96", 14/u) players of 5 years , Caroline Ward#3 -catcher,started her Tuesday morning out like any other teenager by preparing for a days worth of EOG testing at Riverbend middle school. That evening, without any warning or signs, she had a seizure, at one point she stopped breathing and loss of memory . This all happened Tuesday night. Of course as a coach , I went to visit Caroline yesterday(Wednesday) and she appeared normal as always - hyper and joking .Trying to talk her mom into letting her play ball Friday night. As I left Caroline , I felt a relieved and she was in good spirits. Later that evening I received a call that Caroline had another seizure and was transported to Catawba Memorial Hospital...Then transferred to Baptist Medical facility late last night.

Please keep Caroline and the Ward family in your thoughts and prayers. We'll keep you in touch when find out more information!

Sorry to hear about Caroline. You couldn't meet a better softball family. My daughter played with and against her sister for years. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Thoughts and Prayers are with Caroline

#3, we are thinking of you and praying for your swift recovery.
I'm sure your parents are there for you but know that the softball community is also there for you. I don't know you, but as a softball
mom of many years, I feel for you, your family and your team family.
You are added to our prayer chain. Through God, all things are possible.

Please keep us posted on your recovery!

As of now, Caroline is back home resting and in high spirits. She had an abundance of tests ran yesterday and we should know more on the results today.
