I read all the time on this board where coaches that have a kid for 1-2 years right before the next level taking all the glory for the kids accomplishments, and never mentioning the coach that actually trained the kid, and really should get some of the credit for her play !!:pyth: What's wrong with this picture ??

Those coaches are all busy with their next group. There is one thing for certain you can't hide anything from the kids. They know who made a difference in their lives and who was sincere in their efforts to help them develop. This is what really matters and any public accolades pale in comparison.

    Exactly!

The girls remember and either learned a lot from their early coaches or learned how to deal with an unpleasant situation. My daughters both think a lot of their early coaches. I think we've only had one unpleasant situation in the past 10 years so we're fortunate. That taught my oldest dd how to hang in and just do her job, not worry about the guy that didn't realize the 12Us weren't paid major leaguers.

Thanks to all you coaches who volunteer your time. Some days it may seem like a thankless task, but it's the days that you and the girls remember fondly that really count and make it worthwhile. I know the girls have had some coaches who are still considered good friends and they respect those guys a lot.

I'm sure there are some kids who have been coached by pretty much the same coach all through their career but I believe most kids are coached by many different coaches.

I don't know of any coach who tries to take all the credit. I believe most all players have a favorite coach but that doesn't necessarily mean they learned the most from that coach.

I think all coaches contribute a little or a lot along the way. It may not be measurable but the ones who coach are making a difference. As did the ones before them.

You have to be careful taking credit because the winning Grand Slam today might be the losing pop up with bases loaded tomorrow.

    Just keep it honest...

Not only do they know the coaches who made a difference, but they also learn to recognize when another coach is blowing smoke up their ash. You know how hard it is for a DD to have to humor a coach just to play.? It stinks. It's amazing how people will sometimes act, but never stop to think if anyone notices.
