I was not sure where to post this at (Health, exercise, or Sports). I heard that a wrist roller exercise is good for my DD for hitting. She does five reps (up & down) with a length compared to her height with a 5lb weight. My question is, is it better to keep adding weight or doing more repetitions?

more rep's will make the long muscles you need for pitching, adding weight will make her look like popeye!!!!!!!

...hey all jokes aside vike, I'm a firm believer in wrist/forearm power. My DD did those exercises just before going to bed.
Check this out, when DD was in 10th grade, she started doing pushups every night with the goal of increasing her max the next month by another 10. DD met her goal in month 1, then in month 2,3,4 ish she saw a decline of increase. she continued to workout, and after the 8-9th? month she could not do any more pushups than she could in the 3-4 month.
What she could do was hit the ball with power through the gaps with the same swing.
What difference is there in doing 50 or 80 pushups? you're getting stronger!
Moral of this story is, if you work hard at what you want, good things will come your way.

Last year I put parallel bars in for dips (pipes attached to inside of garage). She does 4 sets followed by pushups, along with squats, leg exts, curls, wrist roller, wrist curls. I am hoping she gains the strength in hitting and pitching. Rather try and do it this way then paying for a personal trainer. We'll see what happens.

DD pushed hard with the weights last year. In the short term it seemed to reduce arm speed considerably. However, in the long term it seemed to come back on the plus side. Is this the norm? I know I have heard some discourage the use of weights for pitchers due to the effect on fast twitch muscle groups......I'll admit ignorance upfront on the subject.....So...what is your experience and advice?
