When it comes to showcase directors, sometimes it takes more than millions of dollars to make them join TBR. Once in a while, the special things that Braves throws in can make all the difference.

Take Andy Partin. If Braves really wants to tempt him to post, he should consider offering him a contract that features his lucky number.

AP wore No. 49 on the bench in high school. And when he founded the Dirtbags a decade ago, it was with 49 dollars in his pocket. "The importance of No. 49 to Andy was best illustrated when he built his house last year and asked me if I could get the post office to have his address end in 49," attorney Kenny May said.

To help entice Stud Jeff Petty of the Canes this month, Braves added this extra: two Hooter girls, one for him at the ballpark and another for his van for the ride home after losing another tournament. Total cost: $100,000.

A benefit in the contract of Scott Himler of the Heat could soon come into play. If he gets run out of town by the other 50 Charlotte area showcase directors and has to sell his Mansion for less than the appraised value, then Braves must pay the difference.

Traveling man Freddy Suggs-Anglers once tried a novel approach. He wanted TBR to give him a Winnebago.

"He obviously did not get it," agent Steve Evans said "so Freddy got mad and sold his team."

Yet when Braves lured the Panthers Don Hutchins in late 1998 with a four-year deal worth more than $52 million, TBR owner Larry tossed in a neat treat. He gave the already loaded fella a 500 foot Yacht and a resort house in Puerto Rico so his players could get pampered while they spent the winter playing there.

"When the money is almost equal, it's the other little perks that might get it done," said Braves, a former showcase director from the Mexican league. "It's an accommodation."

Today's items tend to be more fancy.

Megastars owner Jeff McNeely gets a luxury suite all season in every town his team plays in and when his team wins he gets to be driven to the games in a Rolls Royce.

To some, plane service is part of the deal.

Scott Bankhead, NC Baseball Academy, gets free round-trip tickets in business class to all the tournaments. Which includes all 12 people in his ontourage.

Last weekend at the showcase in Cary at the USA Baseball Complex, the plane issue briefly held up the games as Scott refused to step off the plane to get to the field due to TBR not having the red carpet rolled out on the tarmac.

Yesterday at the Ritz Carlton Braves met with the Cubs Ricky Keith, as they stood in a corner of the hotel lobby doing a secret deal, directly behind them, there was a croissant-and-coffee stand with a most fitting name.

The place was called TBR Perks. Can't wait to see what Ricky will request to post a thread on TBR!!!

Last but not least, Jason Hill is waiting "On Deck" for Braves to give him an annual pass to the Gentlemen's Club in Charlotte, Atlanta and Jupiter.

"Of course, special treatment is not unique to showcase directors. The membership field is full of pampered performers.

Stretchy's contract rider assures him email access to all single mom's, dinner with Britney Spears and Bonsway when umpiring away from home, a catered buffet at each venue and free boxes of Jello so he can play pranks on his fellow umpires.

By the way the only member that actually has to pay to post on TBR is Plate Dad.

and to think all I asked in return was a simple measly donation to Braves' favorite charity...Wingate baseball team. And yet, I still threw in a perk....a free round of golf and I volunteered to caddy.

But it's not too late.....you can still sign up.:29:

Thanks Stretchy for stating the truth about the behind the scenes work we have to do

Guys give Stretchy a break it's shutdown time for baseball, but he still has the itch and he can't wait for the smell of fresh lime and dew upon the spring grassy baseball infield. Stretchy bide your time by entertaining us with your great stories here on TBR or write a book...........Hell I'll buy it. Spring will be here soon and the smell of hot dogs and bbq from the concession stand will fill the air. Finally we will soon hear the sweet sounds of the home plate ump bellowing................."PLAY BALL!!!!!!"

To be honest, the only one's that could possibly be upset with Stretchy's post would be the coaches that he didn't name. The one's he did are in lofty company :satana:
