I am new to the recruiting process for my oldest son. He is a senior in a local highschool. He is a 6'5 RHP w/ a fastball of 86-88mph, occasionally clocked as high as 92mph. He is not a kid that has played alot of travel baseball, AAU, etc. He hasn't played on a showcase team. He is just a very naturally talented athlete. He pitched at a UNCG showcase a couple of weeks ago after not pitching in over a year and still stood up and threw 88mph (clocked by the Citadel coach).
We are not sure how to approach this recruiting business. I have had emails from college coaches, letters, and requests for him to attend showcases at various schools. The Citadel offered him a significant scholarship , however, with the out of state tuition, it was still going to be very expensive to attend. Mars Hill is very interested. We went to throw with the coach this past Saturday and he told him he would be one of the only freshmen he has ever had to actually pitch their freshman year. He is going to attend the App State showcase, Impact unsigned Sr. showcase, Elon showcase, and he has been invited to play in the Blue-Grey classic in Florida at the end of October.
Any advice will be appreciated. What should we expect with scholarships? Do we go D-1 or D-2?? We have been told he will most likely be drafted in the next couple of years. If anyone would like to look at his youtube video go to youtube and plug in Steven Coble. His video should pop up.
    Thanks for any advice!

Carolina Thunder - Myrtle Beach Showcase

The Carolina Thunder 17/18 U Showcase team is in need of an extra pitcher to take to a 18U showcase tournament in Myrtle Beach at the Ripken Complex. We went last year and there plenty of college coaches and pro scouts there; plus we had a great time. The dates are Nov. 7-9. Watched Steven's video and he looks like a young man that could help us that weekend plus get some extra exposure.

    Kind Regards,
    Ken
