Senior year: Oh no!

It's beginning to sink in that my DD's fast approaching the end of her college career and thus, most likely, the end of her playing career. The reality of this really started to sink in last spring on the final Sunday of the CAA tournament when one of her then senior teammates was in the batting cage between games at Hofstra with Kristy Norton working on hitting the outside pitch. Two hours later her career was over. I certainly have some trepidation about this as, like this teammate, my kid's a ballplayer and will be until she walks out of the circle for the final time. I know with dead certainty, though, that neither of she nor her mom and I will ever regret a single minute that I spent on the bucket or in Florence, Columbia or Rock Hill sweating thru the weekend.

I'm thankful to everyone in the softball community who made her career possible; particularly the Carolina Wildcat coaches and parents where she came to realize the joy of competing hard every time she went on the field.

We did not join the 'Cats until the fall of '03. I think Amanda finished up with them that summer.

I know Amanda. My daughter Eryn Teague played with Amanda at Laney when Eryn was a freshman. Fun girl and great ball player. Where is she now?
