I have a question. I noticed that ECU has a Faith Sutton on their roster and UNC-CH also does. Are there two? Just wondering - the one that I know is a great pitcher who played for Ray's Cards.

I heard that Faith transferred to ECU from UNC, but I am not 100% sure about it. Yes, that is the same Faith Sutton that played for Ray's Cardinals.

    pitching

I had wondered how that was going to play out. UNC was already loaded with pitching when she went there as a freshman.

Faith has transferred to ECU. I was told though, UNC would not release her so she has to sit out 2009.

    is this a common practice?

what drives this type of decision on a transfer, especially with the 2 schools not in the same conference ?

Even with a release she still would have had to sit out a year. The only way for her not to be penalized would be if she transferred from D1 to D2-D3, NAIA or Juco

    It can run the gamut:

    - Coaches
    - Competition
    - Loss or reduction of scholarship
    - Boyfriend
    - School of choice showed new interest
    - School attended was a disappointment

    etc, etc.

Actually, due to the new transfer rules there is less transferring than years past

    I meant

I meant what drives the decision by the school (UNC in this case) not to grant the release to another school, especially in this case the 2 schools are not in the same conf.
