Situation we had in our game.

Bottom of the 8th inning, score tied 2-2 and runner on 1st. Number 4 batter at the plate who is a very good hitter. We have got her the first 3 times at the plate. There is a pass ball which moves the winning run to 2nd base. A base hit and game is over. She is already in scoring position with first base now open. 1 out in the inning. Count on the hitter is 2-1. Do you pitch to the number 4 hitter or walk her and put the force on any base.

    Walk her!

No doubt in my mind. You need outs to extend the game! Walk her so there is a force at any base but try to get the lead runner. Doesn't matter that you got her out the first three times. I think that actually means is she is due for a hit...

    Kind of figured...

Sorry to hear that. I don't know the coach so am not sticking up for him/her but unfortunately I have done the same thing this year. Tie score, girls on first and second, past ball, runners went to second and third. Batter had 2 - 1 count and I didn't walk her. She ended up blooping one over shorts head and they scored the winning run in the bottom of the 7th. I am not making excuses but as you can see when I am thinking clearly, I know what to do. For some reason I spaced out during the game. It wasn't until after the game that I wondered why I didn't walk her. I think about it almost every day and won't make that mistake again.

Instead of letting her hit or walking her you could always hit her!!! Pitch far inside!!

Someone has to post a little humor here!!!

Actually, if you have a decent pitcher and catcher, I would pitch inside and hope she doesn't connect. I mean pitch way inside or even way outside.
