Apples and Oranges. Does anyone remember J. Finch pitching to the major leaguers with her rise ball in an exhibition. If I remember correctly, only one "foul-tipped" a ball

I'm curious to see the data on this. I'm always interested in learning new techniques. I can't see through this however being beneficial at this point.

The hips have to come through the swing "squashing the bug" and it has to be timed right where the front foot is on the big toe with a 4" stride or less. Balance is the key and with 40 ft and only a .8 reaction ratio; I can't figure out how this scenario would benefit fastpitch.

    Transfering weight is not......

....to be looked upon, in fastpitch, the same as it is in baseball. Reaction time is important in both. My point is.....weight shift in a swing is not moving your body back and forth. Its merely the transfer of ENERGY wrapped around the core of a batter. 4 inch step, 9 inch step, no step, forward is only a mechanism of timing the transfer of power. Also, ....about the "squish the bug". I'll post about that later. good luck.

    Good luck killing those bugs

If you guys are still believers in bug killing, good luck in the summer with pitchers that throw outside and can change speeds fast and slow.

    Easy there coach......

...although you are right about the pitching/pitcher stuff, you missed my statement about "squishing the bug" ...that I'd post later. ....Well, here I go, first off, if you had read and thought, I gave an example of a hitting technique, of socks or shoes on carpet. I know you as a very informed fastpitch man, but, how could you of all people miss what I was saying? Squishing the bug is worthless. It provides no base for the very power transfer we're discussing here. a hitter who locks her backside should focus on fundamentals before worrying about transfering power. the "squish the bug" thing is only one more teachng tool to fix one problem. As I said before, put on your socks, swing on a carpet floor, and tell me how much power you feel in your base.

    ummm, nooooo

We do not believe is harming helpless insects. In fact my kids rush the catipillars off the field right now in an effort to ensure the safety of all ground hugging arthropods....

Anyone who knows me knows that we save bugs, not kill them. We'd rather crush the ball.
