Well, Well, Well,

if any of this chatter were in fact true (and I"m not saying any of it is) I would only say that I learned from the master--Ole Stretchy.It seems that in your old age Stretch you are having a hard time remembering the stunts that were mine and the one ones that have your name on them.Cellphonegate is yours and only yours.I"m just glad we were on the same team when it came to close plays and strikes.I remember an opposing coach once asking me during a game why you kept yelling the word "smoke" in the umpires direction.I didn"t have the heart to tell the poor guy that was Stretchy speak for "'you screw it up and you"ll be using smoke signals instead of that cell phone jn your pocket to call your wife after the game". Or how about the time we were about to win the 14u State Games championship and you threatened the ump with smoke signals, you forgot he was not part of the cellphonegate conspiracy and you get everyone thrown out BUT YOU!!!(includuing our entire parent fan base) You banish me to lead the parents out of the park to the top of the hill 200 yards away.I felt like Moses leading his flock up the hill when I turn around and there is Stretchy grinning like a mule eating briars.Well I soon realized what had happened.As is usually the case with Stretch things happen for a reason.When the game finished and the guys got their gold Stetchy was the only adult with our team within a quarter mile. Therefore he gets to have his picture taken numerous times,gives interveiws and tells the world how he single handedly brought this team from nowhere to gold.We"re having to use binoculars and Stretch is cart wheeling around the bases yelling ,doing the worm and just basking in the spotlight.We all looked at each other knowing right then and there that we had truly created a monster that summer,the dye was cast,he was already to the point of no return and ------the rest is as they say HISTORY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

 

The good old days

You forgot to mention that I won that 14u tournament with a 13 yr old team. I still have the framed picture of the Raleigh News & Observer. Shame HISTORY will prove that I was the only coach. LOL LOL LOL

Footnote: Jerry Sands now plays for Catawba, Zach Johnson now plays for Campbell and Matt Brown now plays for UNC-Pembrook and I am still pulling off scams here and there.

 

Those three can make anybody a good coach no matter how old they were.
