I met last week with Guilford County AD and the sports council. I was told it's pretty simple. The top 25% of the schools in the state go 4A, next 25% go 3A and so on. I'm not naive to believe they won't make an exception but just passing on what was discussed.

I'm a little surprised distance is not considered. Traveling as much as 100 miles gets expensive when you consider all the sports programs.

This is why we may see some funny things happen. As for the 25% thing. I always thought it was a combination of enrolled , projected enrollment and project school projects.

I loved this one: "Damn, those are some really big High Schools. I thought Ragsdale was big at 1700. Some of those schools are bigger than a lot of colleges. "

Try North Meck about 3100. Let's not forget we have it easy. NYC, Atlanta, LA and other large metro areas have small cities for student bodies. 4000 plus.

About coming to W-S. Working on a train thing.

Only repeating what I was told by a County AD and sports council member who is a HS principal. I could see projections being a factor but not projects. But you know, who really cares? We'll all bitch and complain for a while and then we'll all go play who we are told to play. Odds are something good will come from it.

Man you been around them higher ups at the school system to much. City goverment and school boards are about the deafest ears around. Theres more politcs in a school admin building than in Washington, DC as a whole. Really if they had any sense they would be working out ways to fill those schools that have less enrolled than others balance. Hey I know I just was marked by half the parents there. But it is hard to set back and watch. schools get so over crowded time for lunch is a lucky thing. Example: In the WSFCS system there are ten high schools.

    Part 2

    Hit wrong button early.
    3-A Carver 1053
    Not sure East Forsyth 1782
    3-A Glenn 1542
    4-A Mt Tabor 1740
    Not Sure North Forsyth 1393
    3-A Parkland 1547
    Not Sure RJ Reynolds 1518
    4-A West Forsyth 2023
    3-A Regan 1292
    2-A Atkins 750

Now you have ten high schools with an average of student body of 1464. This would be considered a 3-A school. With East Forsyth, Atkins and Carver located with in about 10 mins at most they are wanting to place a new high school in the community of Walkertown because. Get this they promise them one. The highest growth schools are on the sw and western side of Winston. Tabor, West, Regan Looks like lack of judgement. We have three new middle schools buildabout five years ago that have between 1060 to 1175. These are on the Western side. Sure they tell you what they want you to hear. Fact is if they ran the school system like a business this would not be an issue non would transfers.
