Funniest thing I ever saw at a DYB draft. First few rounds each coach took few minutes to make sure he got the best kid available. But once it got to LATE rounds, the picks were going quick and everyone wanted to get finished. Suddenly a coach and his asst got in to a heated arguement over thier 12 th or 13 th pick (minor leagues). After about ten minutes, I finally asked what could possibly be that important? The head coach said they were arguing over which or two kids had the hotter mom. True story.

    New team member choosen

We just picked up a great pitcher Tommy "The Terrible Twos" Taylor. Found him on a play ground outside of New Bern. His nickname came from his two seam fastball. I do not want to give away to much. But that ball has more movement than a belly dancer.

    Sad news

We had to release Ben Dover. After repeated timeouts he still has tried to throw the "poop ball". We will miss him we hope that this will prove that we take the rules of the game very, very serious and no one is above them. We wish him luck.:worry-rose:

Saw a 8U game recently, one kid had the best "Gravity Drop" ball I have ever seen.

We can all joke and laugh about this stuff (i find some of it humorous also) however I've seen a lot of teams at the 10U age recruit position specific players. And I think this all goes back to teh parenst.

Thats why I only recruit those who I feel can cut it and are voted on to the team by players. If you will note. I only let Ben Dover go because he could not follow the rules. My players and parents know that they will not be replaced by a stud player later because each one knows that he brings something special to the team. And the parents know this also. I have learned from the past It is only when you start listening to people say drop this player to get this and when you do it is on. As for posttion players. I really leave it up to the kid. If they what to pitch and can they have that job. If they cannot then they do not. I try to keep it fiarly simple.

I agree, PlateDad, but I hope you don't get your heart broken when those National Level 10U teams start cherry-picking your talent.

If you will note my first post. We plan on being far in advance of a ten yera old team. I figure by the time they are 10. They should be signed to a MLB team. Although, knowing that the blood suckers are out there is half the battle.
