MANNY!

OK, guys. Lets discuss this interesting character. Nobody will argue that he is one of the all-time great hitters. But would you want him on your team? For every timely hit he gets, he seems to screw up a play by going about half-speed. And do you really want a guy to publically state that the Championship is not Life-Or-Death? We all know its really not but I guarantee you a bunch Red Sox natioin doesn't agree with him. I personally find him refeshing and his teammates seem to like him. He's just very different than most superstars.

He marches to his own orchestra. Must be the latin in him. You should see his autograph equally as different as his ways.

 

I love the Red Sox. Have all my life. Went to Fenway for 2 this year. It was like going to Mecca for me. Manny has a sweet swing and a good eye, and I know his teammates like him, BUT, I don't understand why he can't hustle. He's living the dream and it could end tomorrow with an injury. Why would you not play every game as if it were your last? Especially in the playoffs and assuming you are not injured. When he turned the 1 hit into a single and then didn't even slide at home I would have gone nuts.

People say he is a cancer. Well, his teammates like him. He may be a cancer but he's a cancer to top management, not his teammates.

Manny says what he feels. I dont have a problem with that. He sure looked intense last night. I know he doesnt run everything out , heck does he run anything out? But Manny is Manny. You know what your going to get with this guy. He can just absolutely mash. I think he is comical and I dont like the fact he never hustles. But I love to watch him hit. He is so relaxed at the plate and so patient at the plate. You can just watch him waiting for the pitcher to make a mistake and then he jumps on it. Red Sox fans love Manny. Why? Because he produces. Not just in the regular season but in the post season as well. He cant play a lick of defense. He has no arm. He doesnt hustle. I hate those stupid dred locks. But I like his baggy pants they are cool. I love the way he hits the baseball. So I overlook the other stuff and just sit back and wait for him to get back up at the plate.

Yes, I agree. He is not a cancer and I don't believe he doesn't care. He just doesn't need to speak when a microphone is put in his face. He sounds so much smarter when he doesn't speak.

He's a character! players love him, the fans love him. He is what he is. I bet this is how it all evolved:

Manny's wife- "Manny, don't get down. It's not the end of the world"

Manny- "Yeah, but I hate to lose"

Manny's wife- " I know, but don't let it get to you. Whatever you say don't ever say that to a reporter"

Manny- "okay"

later that day and interviewer talks to Manny

TV Reporter- " Hey Manny? How long are you going to let your dreadlocks get?

Manny- "It's not the end of the world"

Manny's wife- "Didn't I say not to say that?"

Manny- "you said not to a reporter...he's a TV guy!"

Manny Ramirez...ya gotta love him!

Hey, you have to give him this much credit: You get all of him....100%....whether you like it or not. All of the talent, All of the clutch effort, All of the antics. Everyday. He never changes.

Personally, I tune in to see this guy play. He's that good...& he's that entertaining.

 

No Thank You

I'll pass on Manny. The players will tell you the truth 20 years from now. They aren't stupid. They know it's a bad move to speak out against him. If you know the game you know he's trouble.

Can he hit? You betcha. A guy with only 2 tools (even if it's hitting and hitting for power) doesn't do it for me. It's kind of like what I was saying the other day. For some reason MLB teams (and their fans) hang on to a guy like him and hang on his every word? I'd rather go find the next star like Holliday instead, but that's just me. Henry Aaron was a decent hitter who had a good eye and hit in the clutch too. AND Aaron ran the bases and played his position. Aaron or Manny? You know the answer to that one don't you!

And another thing! It's all about Manny! He hits a meaningless Homerun the other night and raises his hands in celebration. That's a disgrace. Don't think for a minute that the "professional" players he's with or playing against are amused by his antics. He's selfish. If you want to call it entertainment go right ahead but I'm not entertained by it at all.
