I predicted this would be coming soon. I believe this is the tip of the iceburg for the future of HS-Amateur baseball.

Mark my words In my opinion, of all the HS sports, the demographics of HS baseball supporters, financially, is the strongest market and virtually untapped on a national advertising scene.

I believe you will find the best Showcase tournaments, regionally and nationally, are going to scramble to be the 1st one's on the list to be either steamlined or on television.

I also predict that the initial enterprising organizations that host events tied to televising their tournaments will rise above all others.

Which selfishly brings me to this point. Would you guys/gals be interested in attending or watching a pre-season TBR/Impact Baseball Classic featuring the top teams from all the classes gathered for a long weekend of games? Would you be interested in watching or attending the Best from the East vs the Best from the West players in an All Star event?

Here is the link to the very first HS-Amateur baseball game that will be streamlined by mlb.com http://www.techweb.com/showPressRelease.jhtml?articleID=X505769

I really do believe this is something that will happen in NC in the near future...and the bigger the event, the more popular it will become.

I would love to beat those dadgum East Cobb folks at something. Then again...they'll just pile on the bandwagon. But I would love to say, " Yeah, but we were first!"

    It's a win-win situation for everybody.

I asked this of Andy Partin in his coming interview about TV. I have discussed with a few coaches of some major baseball high schools if they had interest in being involed in a Pre-Season event featuring top schools...and to a man they said if it was done right, they would like to participate.

Done right= the tournament paying travel and hotel costs for the invited teams.

I think with the right sponsors this would be no problem.

Braves, see my post about the Impact Invite in Wilson Saturday. Not exactly what you are talking about, but it's a start.

See my post on Wilson games.

The NCHSAA does not allow live broadcasts, only tape delays... In order for a member school to participate, the NCHSAA would have to sanction the event and change its rules regarding televising games involving members. Summer events may be the best alternative, but to affect eligibility the NCHSAA would have to be consulted to see if it could potentially affect a student-athlete's eligibility.
