East Rutherford / TC Roberson Scrimmage

Defending 2A Champ East Rutherford and 3A Power TC Roberson scrimmaged for 11 innings today at East Rutherford. East hit 4 home runs on the way to outscoring TC 15-6. TC star Cameron Maybin was among 3 starters missing due to basketball committments. Both teams used 6 pitchers. For East Rutherford, Seniors Steven Harris, Garland Jones and Jeff McCracken along with Soph. Blake Bostic (Grand Slam) hit HR's. Jones threw 2 hitless innings, topping out at 83 MPH. TC Freshman Justin Jackson had 2 hits and several nice plays at SS. East star Chad Flack had a 2B along with 2 walks.

    New Bern Jacksonville

New Bern threw 6 pitchers in 9 innings giving up only two hits and one run. Adam Warren pitched 2 scoreless innings and even chipped in a home run in the eighth. The bats looked strong throughout the lineup. Jacksonville was though missing thier starting short stop and ace pitcher because of basketball. Jacksonville looks to be strong once they get those two out there. Ended up not being much of a game. New Bern will be at Pamlico Thursday.

East Rutherford looked strong and will be a force again in 2A, but Roberson was actaully missing 4 starters due to basketball, including their #1 starter, Sophomore Josh Thrailkill.

Hopewell handled East Lincoln fairly easily. East Lincoln struck with a homer in the first. After that it was all Hopewell until the sixth or seventh inning when East Lincoln scored two or three on walks. Hopewell had several players with homers. I believe Dan Woodall had two and Dusty White had two. The wind was blowing out most of the game so bombs were falling. Hopewell played mostly sophs and freshmen in the final two innings and continued to score with regularity.

I believe Hopewell pitched five different pitchers. Ryan Stage (after he gave up the homer in the first) and Jaryd Keesee looked very strong on the mound. Dusty White also pitched well.

The "Panthers" is Providence HS. Providence is ranked #9 pre-season in 4A baseball.

The final score I believe of the Richmond County game was 8 - 3 with Providence winning.
